my approach

holistic & integrative

I believe therapy works best when it addresses ‘the whole person’ — mind, body and heart/spirit, and our work will help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself on all these levels.

I believe that therapy should be as unique as you. I weave together many different ways of working in an integrative manner to best support your needs and goals.

Finally, I believe you already have what you need to thrive within you — an internal intelligence we all share that naturally guides us towards healing and well-being given the right environment. Our work in therapy provides a supportive space that encourages this process.

foundations of my approach

we’re in this together

As humans, relationships are central to how we heal, grow, and transform, including the relationship we build together in therapy.

Reflecting this, my style is relational — meaning I’m no ‘blank slate’. I bring my true self to our meetings and actively participate.

I’ll laugh with you, cry with you and curse with you. I will be direct and challenge you in service of growth, and I will hold your process with the tenderness and care it deserves. In short, I’ll be there to support you in whatever your process brings.

you are already whole and complete

The basic tenant of holistic therapy is that there’s nothing wrong with you — that you’re already whole and compete. There’s a saying that sums this up nicely: It’s not ‘what’s wrong with you’ — it’s what’s happened to you’.

We’ll explore how you learned to be in the world, and discover the creative ways you have adapted to your life, that may no longer be serving you, approaching those experiences with kindness and respect.

Taking a holistic approach means we’ll also explore your struggles in the context of your experience — how your relationships, communities, systems of oppression and the greater world affect your overall sense of well-being.

it’s a co-created journey

I believe you are an expert of your own experience and therefore see therapy as a collaborative endeavor. I bring knowledge, tools and my own humanity to share with you, and see my role as your companion and guide.

You get to take the lead, moving at a comfortable pace, focusing on what matters most to you in each session.

My overall clinical philosophy is trauma-informed, grounded in attachment theory and influenced by neuroscience. I draw from a variety of clinical orientations including somatic (body-based), experiential, psychodynamic, and family systems therapies, as well as from yogic wisdom and Buddhist psychology.

modalities that inform my work

Parts Work/Gestalt therapy is similar in its approach to IFS: Internal Family Systems in that it helps people resolve inner conflicts and develop greater self-understanding by exploring the different sides of ourselves known as ‘Parts.’

Hakomi mind-body somatic psychotherapy uses gentle, mindfulness-based inquiry that provide deeper insight and understanding of experiences that are not always accessible through talk therapy alone.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy takes into account people’s history, particularly early life, and relationships, which creates a deeper understanding of the past, creating freedom to live more fully in the present.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples focuses on identifying and addressing emotional patterns and attachment issues within relationships. It can help partners create a more secure emotional connection, enhance their communication, and deepen intimacy.
